About this role

Solid Power seeks a Process Engineer II to oversee drying and crystallization operations for all solid-state battery electrolyte production. You'll commission new equipment, maintain process specifications, and drive continuous improvement in this fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Own drying and crystallization unit operations, defining and maintaining process parameters and control strategies to meet material specifications
  • Lead equipment commissioning and validation, coordinating with systems engineering, production, and equipment teams
  • Translate material specifications (particle size, morphology, solvent content, crystallinity) into actionable process parameters
  • Monitor SCADA and batch data to identify process drift and determine critical parameters
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues affecting throughput, yield, quality, and safety
  • Develop SOPs, conduct PFMEAs, and implement process hazard analyses with appropriate safety layers

What they're looking for

  • Process engineering experience in chemicals, batteries, advanced materials, or powder manufacturing
  • Hands-on drying process development and commissioning at industrial or pilot scale
  • High temperature solid-state crystallization or calcination experience
  • Heat and mass transfer fundamentals; drying kinetics; phase transformation knowledge
  • Statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab)
  • SCADA systems and batch record data analysis
  • Process hazard analysis and management of change
  • Cross-functional collaboration and operator mentoring
