About this role

NewsBreak seeks a junior software engineer to join its Corporate Ventures & AI Operations team, working on backend systems, ML infrastructure, and revenue operations. You'll develop data pipelines, recommendation engines, and monitoring tools that drive user retention and monetization across a platform with 40M+ monthly active users.

What you'll do

  • Build instrumentation and monitoring systems to track performance signals (load times, error rates) across web, app, and live streams
  • Develop backend services and dashboards for engagement metrics like session length, scroll depth, and retention
  • Contribute to recommendation algorithms and data infrastructure (feature pipelines, training datasets) supporting personalization at scale
  • Engineer data pipelines and ETL jobs to process ads, user events, and engagement data using SQL, Python, or PySpark
  • Support commission calculation systems and revenue operations tooling for the ad sales team
  • Build alerting and automated checks for data quality, ads performance anomalies, and system health
