About this role

Keycard is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to build core infrastructure for an identity and access control plane designed for AI agents. You'll design and implement distributed systems, developer platforms, and enforcement mechanisms that enable secure, scalable agent-native applications across the stack.

What you'll do

  • Build core identity services, policy enforcement systems, and audit logging infrastructure for agent workflows
  • Design and maintain Kubernetes operators, CI/CD automation, and developer-facing platform abstractions
  • Architect distributed systems with strong consistency, fault tolerance, and observability guarantees
  • Move across the stack contributing to both infrastructure and core product services
  • Work directly with founders, product, and other engineers to shape system design and priorities
  • Help define and implement Keycard's internal adoption of agents as an engineering organization

What they're looking for

  • Go and/or Rust programming
  • Distributed systems design (consensus, coordination, state management)
  • Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • CI/CD pipeline design and automation
  • Identity and access protocols (OIDC, OAuth, mTLS)
  • System resilience and fault tolerance patterns
  • Observability and monitoring design
  • Async communication and technical leadership

Benefits

  • Work on frontier agent-native infrastructure and emerging protocols
  • High autonomy and opportunities for technical mastery
  • Remote-friendly, distributed team environment
  • Opportunity to shape company culture during 0→1 phase
  • Collaborate directly with repeat founders from Snyk, Auth0, HashiCorp, and Heroku
