Product Engineer, Silicon Validation

San JosefulltimemidAdded 1 month ago

About this role

Etched seeks an experienced Product Engineer to lead silicon validation and test development for AI accelerator chips, driving first-pass success from initial silicon through high-volume manufacturing. You'll own test strategies, yield optimization, and cross-functional partnerships to ensure production quality and cost targets.

What you'll do

  • Plan and execute silicon characterization including voltage-frequency-temperature testing, corner analysis, and production limit setting
  • Architect test flows balancing time, coverage, and yield learning for complex AI accelerator designs
  • Drive yield improvement through data-driven root cause analysis and statistical methods
  • Manage die/package bring-ups, failure mode troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration
  • Support OSAT transitions, ATE/SLT program releases, and test cost optimization
  • Analyze field returns and system failures to identify test coverage gaps and improve screening

What they're looking for

  • Silicon validation and ATE test development (5-10+ years)
  • Silicon characterization methodologies (Fmax/Vmin, power/thermal)
  • Yield analysis tools (JMP, Exensio, DataPower, OptimalPlus)
  • High-volume manufacturing test experience
  • Advantest V93K ATE programming (preferred)
  • GPU/HPC/AI accelerator testing background (preferred)
  • Python, Perl, or TCL scripting for automation (preferred)
  • HBM or high-speed memory interface testing (preferred)

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with generous premium support
  • $500 monthly credit for waiving medical benefits

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through your experience with silicon characterization from first silicon through production release—specifically how you've handled Fmax/Vmin and power/thermal validation on advanced node chips.
  • Describe a yield optimization project where you identified and resolved a critical failure mode. What statistical tools or analysis methods did you use, and what were the quantifiable DPPM improvements?
