Spacecraft GNC Engineer
About this role
Apex seeks an experienced Spacecraft GNC Engineer to design and develop guidance, navigation, and control systems for commercial satellite buses. You'll lead clean-sheet GNC architecture design, conduct spacecraft dynamics analysis, and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet precision pointing and stability requirements.
What you'll do
- Develop GNC algorithms for attitude/orbit determination, control, and precision pointing
- Conduct spacecraft dynamics analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance and stability
- Design and test control systems including reaction wheels, thrusters, and magnetic torquers
- Perform trade studies on GNC configurations considering power, mass, and cost
- Develop test plans and procedures for GNC systems with anomaly resolution
- Collaborate with software engineers on GNC module development and satellite integration

- Control theory and GNC algorithm design
- C/C++, MATLAB, Python programming
- MATLAB/Simulink and STK simulation tools
- GNC sensors and actuators (gyroscopes, star trackers, thrusters)

- Telemetry analysis and troubleshooting
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
