About this role
AGE Solutions seeks a Field Engineer II to lead telecommunications infrastructure modernization for a federal customer in Washington, DC. This hands-on role involves installing, testing, and maintaining Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling systems in secure government environments, working primarily during nighttime hours.
What you'll do
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling per BICSI standards using certification tools
- Build and upgrade telecommunications infrastructure including patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, and cable management systems
- Construct and repair cable pathways, trays, ladder racks, and fire-stopping in compliance with standards
- Support campus-wide cabling refresh projects, MDF/IDF upgrades, and system migrations across multiple buildings
- Read and interpret telecom drawings, schematics, and installation documentation; perform cable routing and labeling
- Coordinate with engineers and government personnel to ensure work meets federal, security, and safety requirements
