Data Center Engineer
About this role
IMC Trading seeks an experienced Data Center Engineer to manage physical server and network infrastructure across colocation facilities in the Somerset, NJ area. You'll handle hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation while supporting the firm's critical financial market operations.
What you'll do
- Manage lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and IT infrastructure components
- Install, configure, and maintain server and network hardware in data centers
- Design rack layouts, cabling schemes, and coordinate patching schedules
- Diagnose hardware issues, coordinate vendor repairs and RMA processes
- Track hardware inventory, manage shipments, and maintain stock levels
- Document infrastructure, cabling layouts, and maintain vendor relationships
What they're looking for
- 5+ years data center engineering experience
- Server hardware and network device expertise
- Network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceiver knowledge
- Fiber optic testing and cleaning
- Linux operating systems and networking protocols
- Data center facilities management tools (power, cooling)
- Bash and Python scripting (preferred)
- Physical capability to lift up to 60 pounds
