About this role
Starpath seeks a Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotary actuators to enhance space solar technology. The role involves designing and testing mechanisms crucial for solar array deployment in extraterrestrial environments.
What you'll do
- Lead design and analysis of rotary actuators and related components
- Select and integrate motors, gearheads, and sensors
- Conduct performance analysis and verify through calculations and FEA
- Specify materials and lubrication for extreme conditions
- Oversee mechanism qualification and acceptance testing
- Collaborate with electrical and manufacturing teams
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 1+ years in mechanical design or actuator experience
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawings
- Experience with rotary mechanisms for flight applications
- Understanding of motor electronics and control systems
- Familiarity with aerospace mechanism standards
- Knowledge of tribology in space environments
- Ability to simplify mechanisms and reduce complexity
