About this role

Build end-to-end backend features for a consumer fintech platform focused on tax optimization, paycheck management, and credit building. You'll own implementations from domain modeling through production deployment in an event-driven architecture, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement backend features end-to-end, including domain models, business logic, and third-party API integrations
  • Deploy and iterate on features using data-driven, incremental release strategies toward product milestones
  • Write SQL queries and leverage analytics tools to measure product performance and system health
  • Debug and resolve issues in event-driven, pub/sub backend architectures and complex state machines
  • Shepherd code through CI/CD pipelines, own production incidents, and participate in code reviews
  • Communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders and product teams

  • Backend development with 3+ years production experience
  • RESTful API design and consumption (authentication, authorization, rate limiting)
  • Event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
  • Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization
  • SQL and analytics tools for performance evaluation
  • CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing
  • Computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, system design)
  • Go/Golang (nice-to-have)
