About this role
A venture-backed robotics startup in Austin seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design and own mechanical systems for next-generation autonomous ground robots built for extreme environments. You'll drive full lifecycle development from concept through field deployment, working with a high-caliber team on electro-mechanical assemblies requiring precision and reliability.
What you'll do
- Own mechanical systems from concept through production and field deployment
- Design electro-mechanical assemblies using 3D CAD, conducting strength and reliability analyses
- Drive rapid iteration and validation through testing, building prototypes when needed
- Generate detailed assembly drawings with GD&T annotations and lead design reviews
- Design and build jigs, test fixtures, and tooling for mechanical systems
- Perform root cause analysis on failures and collaborate with suppliers on manufacturability
