SpaceX

High-Speed Electro-Optical IC Engineer (RFIC Engineering)

Redmond, WAmidAdded 3 weeks ago

About this role

SpaceX seeks an Electro-Optical Silicon Photonics IC Engineer to design next-generation photonic and RF/analog integrated circuits for Starlink's satellite and ground infrastructure. You'll develop high-speed optical link solutions, collaborate across systems and firmware teams, and bring cutting-edge connectivity technology to global markets.

What you'll do

  • Design and simulate electro-optical and RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits for silicon photonics solutions
  • Derive specifications for photonics IC and electrical IC subsystems
  • Develop analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes
  • Perform IC floor planning, layout, and parasitic modeling including packaging effects
  • Characterize and measure electrical and optical components; evaluate high-speed optical link performance
  • Collaborate with system architects, DSP engineers, and manufacturing teams on testing and qualification

What they're looking for

  • Silicon photonics and electro-optical IC design
  • RF/analog/mixed-signal circuit design and simulation
  • EDA tools (Spectre, ADS, HFSS, Ansys Lumerical, COMSOL)
  • High-speed SerDes design (>100 Gbps, modulation schemes like NRZ/PAM4)
  • Optical component design (MZM modulators, microring modulators, waveguides, photodiodes)
  • High-speed test equipment operation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, BERTs)
  • IC layout and physical design
  • Co-package optics (CPO) and advanced packaging technology
