Software Engineer – General (new grad / early career)
About this role
Northwood seeks software engineers to help build a global network of ground stations that provide satellite communications for national security, connectivity, and disaster response. You'll work on full-stack systems spanning edge control, data pipelines, cloud orchestration, APIs, and infrastructure—with the opportunity to specialize in one or two core areas while contributing across multiple domains.
What you'll do
- Design and implement control systems for ground station hardware and embedded systems
- Architect high-bandwidth data pipelines and SD-WAN capabilities for global data movement
- Lead distributed systems design and cloud orchestration across global ground networks
- Build customer-facing and internal APIs, databases, and front-end interfaces
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems for reliability and diagnostics
- Create production line software, test automation, and simulations for hardware validation
