Code Metal
Forward Deployed Engineer
About this role
Code Metal seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the critical link between their algorithm-to-hardware platform and customer deployments. You'll work directly with defense and aerospace partners to translate complex signal processing workloads onto GPUs, FPGAs, and edge systems, owning solutions end-to-end from initial scoping through production delivery.
What you'll do
- Own full lifecycle deployment of customer solutions from problem definition to production implementation
- Translate DSP, RF, and communications algorithms into optimized implementations on specialized hardware
- Profile, debug, and tune systems for performance, latency, memory, and power constraints
- Debug across software, algorithms, hardware, and toolchain layers in complex environments
- Travel to customer sites (30-75%) for integration, testing, and validation in real-world settings
- Capture deployment learnings to build reusable patterns and improve platform capabilities
What they're looking for
- Programming in Python, C++, CUDA, Matlab, VHDL, Verilog, or Rust
- GPU programming or CUDA development
- FPGA design and development
- Embedded systems and edge compute optimization
- DSP, RF, or signal processing algorithm implementation
- Cross-layer system debugging and performance optimization
- Direct customer communication and technical stakeholder management
- Problem-solving in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
Benefits
- Competitive salary at upper end of range based on experience
- 100% premium coverage for medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with 5% employer matching
