Software Engineer – Support (USA Only - 100% Remote)
About this role
Join Close's support team as a Software Engineer to build AI-powered tools and automation systems that help support reps work more efficiently. You'll work directly with the support team in a fully remote environment, owning projects end-to-end and shipping systems that remove friction from customer support workflows.
What you'll do
- Design and ship internal tools including AI drafting systems, autonomous reply features, and workflow automation
- Own projects from conception through launch with direct collaboration from support stakeholders
- Build customer-facing self-service tools like diagnostic scripts and migration utilities
- Improve underlying systems and integrations across Close's tech stack
- Experiment with new approaches and measure their impact before shipping
- Work closely with support reps and engineers to identify pain points and deliver solutions
What they're looking for
- 3+ years software engineering experience with production-quality code
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, or Typescript/Javascript
- Experience building information retrieval systems using semantic search or RAG
- AI fluency and ability to leverage tools while understanding underlying code
- Systems thinking and ability to anticipate upstream/downstream consequences
- Clear async communication and technical writing skills
- Degree or rigorous experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering
