Network Engineer
About this role
CGS seeks an experienced Network Engineer to evaluate, design, and implement comprehensive network infrastructure for a large-scale government project encompassing wired, wireless, and software systems. You'll work with government personnel and vendors to optimize network performance, conduct security assessments, and provide technical guidance while managing day-to-day infrastructure operations.
What you'll do
- Evaluate current network setup and design integrated wireless, wired, and software infrastructure solutions
- Manage NPS network infrastructure, monitor performance, and maintain comprehensive documentation
- Administer Cloudpath onboarding, troubleshoot wireless health issues, and implement security patches and firmware updates
- Conduct testing procedures, vulnerability assessments, and quality assurance for new infrastructure projects
- Provide design guidance and informal training to stakeholders on network best practices and operations
- Assess infrastructure and recommend improvements for optimization and cybersecurity

- NPS network infrastructure management and monitoring
- Wireless network administration (Cloudpath or equivalent)
- CWNA and BCNE certifications
- RF site survey tools (Ekahau, RF Scanners, Wireshark)
- Layer 2/3 networking protocols (VLANs, OSPF, VRRP, 802.1x)
- Network security implementation and troubleshooting
- Linux, MS Server 2013, and VMware
- Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment
