About this role
Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Metrology Engineer to support the assembly of SPARC, a cutting-edge fusion power demonstrator. You'll use advanced 3D metrology technology to ensure precise alignment and dimensional accuracy of complex fusion reactor systems operating under extreme thermal and electromagnetic conditions.
What you'll do
- Perform mid- to large-scale precision alignments using portable 3D metrology equipment
- Conduct dimensional inspections on SPARC systems and structures per metrology plan
- Support assembly of densely packed fusion reactor components including magnets, cryogenic systems, and plasma-facing components
- Ensure critical systems meet alignment and tolerance specifications during device assembly
- Collaborate with SPARC assembly team to maintain precision under operational loads
- Document and validate metrology results against design requirements
