Data Center Services Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
About this role
CAI seeks an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to manage all mechanical aspects of data center commissioning projects, from design review through client handover. The role involves coordinating testing, developing procedures, ensuring safety compliance, and collaborating with vendors and customers in a fast-paced hyperscale environment.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute mechanical test procedures, checklists, and documentation throughout commissioning lifecycle
- Coordinate contractor and vendor activities to complete mechanical systems testing on schedule
- Perform equipment inspections, factory witness tests, and acceptance testing against design specifications
- Conduct safety oversight, design reviews, submittal analysis, and QA/QC of installations and procedures
- Generate daily status reports and final commissioning reports for project managers and clients
- Facilitate facility walkthroughs, turnover activities, and punch list reviews with customers
What they're looking for
- Data center commissioning (5-7 years minimum)
- HVAC systems knowledge (CRAC/CRAH, VRF, air handlers, humidifiers, coolers)
- Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) familiarity
- Mechanical drawing and P&ID interpretation
- OSHA safety requirements and Test, Adjust, Balance (TAB) processes
- Thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow fundamentals
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication
