AI Platform Engineer, DevX

San Francisco Bay Area (Remote)fulltimemidAdded 1 month ago

About this role

Brain Co. seeks an AI Platform Engineer to lead the DevX team, owning the monorepo, build system, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling that enable the entire engineering organization to ship faster. You'll identify and eliminate developer friction across a multi-language codebase (Python, TypeScript, Go), design systems for regulated deployments, and treat internal infrastructure with production-grade rigor and observability.

What you'll do

  • Own Nx-based monorepo architecture, dependency boundaries, and language toolchains (pnpm, uv, Go)
  • Design and operate CI/CD systems with strong guarantees around correctness, reproducibility, and speed for regulated and air-gapped environments
  • Build developer tooling including CLIs, scaffolding, local dev stacks (Tilt, Docker, Kubernetes), and code-quality infrastructure
  • Measure developer productivity bottlenecks and ship data-driven improvements with clear before/after impact
  • Run build and CI infrastructure with SLOs, observability, and on-call rigor like a production system
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive adoption of paved paths and internal platforms through quality

What they're looking for

  • Monorepo platforms (Nx, Bazel, Pants, Buck, or Turborepo)
  • CI/CD systems at scale (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, CircleCI, or similar)
  • Go, Python, TypeScript, Rust, or Bash
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Build system optimization and caching strategies
  • Developer experience and internal platform design
  • Systems observability and SLO management
  • Release engineering for regulated environments

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a time you identified developer friction in a build system or CI/CD pipeline — how did you measure the problem and what was the impact of your fix?
  • You're inheriting a monorepo with slow builds and unclear dependency boundaries. How would you approach diagnosing the root causes and prioritizing fixes?
