About this role

BlueLabs seeks an experienced Data Engineer II to lead the modernization of its data platform, focusing on Kimball-style dimensional modeling, data quality standards, and migration of legacy systems to a scalable cloud architecture. You'll work closely with leadership to drive platform vision into execution while mentoring junior engineers and establishing best practices across the organization.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement Kimball-style dimensional models and star schema architectures to modernize legacy data systems
  • Own data quality standards by identifying, documenting, and remediating data issues proactively across the platform
  • Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines with emphasis on reliability, observability, and maintainability
  • Develop and champion data modeling, transformation, and testing best practices across the engineering team
  • Extract and codify business logic from existing systems into well-documented, cloud-agnostic transformation layers
  • Mentor Data Engineer I team members and provide technical guidance on architectural decisions

What they're looking for

  • Dimensional modeling and Kimball methodology
  • SQL and Python (production-quality code)
  • dbt (advanced features including custom tests, macros, packages)
  • Snowflake and Redshift
  • Data warehouse architecture and migration
  • Data quality frameworks and validation pipelines
  • Technical communication with engineering and non-technical stakeholders
  • Cross-functional collaboration

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $95,000–$125,000
  • Premier health insurance, 401K matching, and unlimited vacation
  • 15 weeks paid parental leave and paid sick/personal/volunteer leave
  • Professional development stipend and tuition reimbursement
