About this role
Join Cash App's Lending team to build scalable financial systems that provide accessible credit to millions of users. You'll design and develop complex APIs and platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams on high-impact projects from concept to production.
What you'll do
- Design and build developer-centric APIs optimized for uptime, latency, compliance, and cost efficiency
- Lead or contribute to lending projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring quality ownership
- Create financial primitives and composable building blocks serving Block's broader intelligence layer
- Partner with credit risk, legal, compliance, and product teams to advance lending capabilities
- Operate and maintain existing Cash App services in production
- Mentor team members, conduct interviews, and contribute to engineering practices and open-source communities
What they're looking for
- 5+ years building complex systems and delivering quality software
- Java and Kotlin proficiency
- Microservices and event-driven architecture
- Database design (MySQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, Vitess)
- AWS cloud infrastructure
- gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and API design
- AI-first development mindset and agentic engineering familiarity
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in transparent, distributed decision-making models
