BIO
Core Engineer
About this role
Bio seeks a Core Engineer to design and build foundational AI agent infrastructure and on-chain coordination systems for a decentralized science platform. This is a full ownership role where you'll architect high-performance backend systems that enable scientists to fund and commercialize biotech research at scale.
What you'll do
- Architect and build AI agent infrastructure and orchestration systems from the ground up
- Design on-chain coordination mechanisms including funding flows, governance, and research incentives
- Build fault-tolerant backend services integrating with external systems like cloud labs and bio-databases
- Optimize system performance, throughput, and reliability under research workloads
- Lead technical decisions on system design, data models, and scaling strategy
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, observability, and incident response
What they're looking for
- AI agent systems and LLM orchestration patterns
- Distributed systems and high-throughput architectures
- Backend development (Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript)
- Smart contract development and on-chain coordination
- Production ML systems and real-world data integration
- System design and scalability optimization
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical mentorship
- Real-world scientific computing or biotech experience (preferred)
