About this role

Base is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Austin to design and scale manufacturing lines for distributed battery storage systems. You'll bridge product design and production by developing efficient processes, equipment specifications, and workstation layouts while collaborating across teams.

What you'll do

  • Design equipment, fixtures, and processes for prototype builds and high-volume production scaling
  • Procure and manage manufacturing equipment suppliers from specification through installation
  • Conduct process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling
  • Provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) input to optimize yield and processes
  • Create manufacturing workstation layouts optimizing flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
  • Develop technical documentation and training materials for production operations

  • Mechanical/manufacturing engineering with 5+ years hands-on experience
  • AutoCAD (2D design) and SolidWorks or CATIA (3D design)
  • GD&T and system stack-up analysis
  • Robotic systems, conveyor design, or automated testing experience
  • Technical specification writing for automated equipment
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Automation (DFA)
  • Mechanical or electromechanical systems knowledge
  • Adhesive dispensing or DC fastening tool experience
