About this role
Artemis, an AI-driven cybersecurity startup backed by First Round Capital, is hiring a Security Research Engineer to develop AI-powered detections, conduct threat hunting, and investigate incidents across cloud and identity platforms. You'll work hands-on at the intersection of security research and AI, directly impacting threat detection and engaging with customers to deliver security value.
What you'll do
- Develop AI-powered detection tools and automation to accelerate detection creation and validation
- Conduct security research on cloud, identity, and SaaS data sources (AWS CloudTrail, Okta, Entra ID)
- Perform authorized attack simulations and threat hunting to validate detection coverage
- Investigate security incidents and refine detection logic based on real-world findings
- Engage with customers to present analysis, gather feedback, and tune detections for accuracy
- Build investigation automation tools that scale threat hunting workflows across the platform
What they're looking for
- 7+ years hands-on cybersecurity experience
- Incident response in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and identity providers
- Threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) knowledge
- Log-based analysis and malicious activity detection
- Detection engineering and translation of research into actionable detections
- Technical communication with engineers and customers
- SIEM, EDR, or SOAR tool familiarity
- AI/ML tools and models experience (bonus)
