Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and integrate powertrain systems for all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. You'll lead mechanical integration of generators, turboshaft engines, ducting, and thermal management systems from prototype development through rigorous testing.

What you'll do

  • Design mechanical integration solutions for powertrain components including generators and turboshaft engines
  • Design metallic parts, assemblies, inlet/exhaust ducting, and thermal management systems
  • Collaborate with aerothermal and structural analysts to optimize designs for performance and safety
  • Manage full prototype development lifecycle: requirements, design, procurement, assembly, and testing
  • Develop verification testing strategies and support regulatory testing compliance (DO-160G, etc.)
  • Create technical drawings, specifications, and support requirements documentation

  • 5+ years mechanical engineering experience
  • Turbomachinery or propulsion systems integration (turbofan, turboshaft)
  • CAD proficiency (Solidworks, NX) and TeamCenter assembly management
  • FEA tools (NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus)
  • GD&T and manufacturing drawing creation
  • Metallic design (machining, sheet metal, weldments)
  • Aerospace hardware and Mil-Spec fastener knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with composite, ducting, and structural design
