About this role

Anduril Industries seeks a Tracking Software Engineer to develop advanced 2D and 3D tracking algorithms for space domain awareness and control missions. You'll design multi-target tracking systems using state estimation and data association techniques, transitioning prototypes into operational systems for space situational awareness.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement multi-target tracking and state estimation algorithms (Kalman filters, IMM) with track initiation, maintenance, and termination
  • Develop and evaluate multi-sensor fusion approaches for EO/IR and RF sensor architectures
  • Implement advanced data association techniques including JPDA, MHT, nearest neighbor, and track-to-track fusion
  • Build physics-based models and conduct Monte Carlo analysis, sensor playback, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Perform systems engineering, trade studies, and design reviews for tracking robustness under challenging conditions
  • Collaborate with software engineers to transition MATLAB/Python prototypes to production C++ code for real-time systems

What they're looking for

  • Multi-target tracking algorithms
  • State estimation (Kalman filters, EKF, UKF, IMM)
  • Data association methods (JPDA, MHT)
  • MATLAB and Python programming
  • C/C++ development
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Sensor fusion
  • Systems engineering

Likely interview questions

  • Can you walk us through a specific multi-target tracking algorithm you've implemented, including how you handled track initiation, maintenance, and termination in an operational system?
  • Describe your experience with data association techniques like JPDA or MHT. In what scenarios have you chosen one over the other, and how did you handle computational constraints?
