About this role
Design Engineer responsible for developing vehicle exterior trim components (C-pillar, D-pillar, roof, tailgate, spoiler, wheel arches, rear fascia) from concept through production. The role encompasses 3D CAD design, feasibility analysis, manufacturing validation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver cost-effective, high-quality automotive solutions.
What you'll do
- Create and develop vehicle trim components using 3DX CAD with independent design capability and GD&T application
- Conduct design validation through CAE, physical testing, and analytical methods to ensure performance and integrity
- Assess tooling, manufacturing, and assembly feasibility including surface finish, fit, and dimensional variation analysis
- Support technical reviews using DFMEA, DVPR, PFMEA, control plans, and other quality documentation methodologies
- Manage engineering data through PLM systems, BOM control, and design release processes while coordinating program milestones
- Evaluate landed costs, vendor tooling expenses, and financial impacts while managing engineering budgets
