Closures System Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Closures System Engineer to design and develop vehicle closure systems (doors, hoods, tailgates) from concept through production launch. You'll manage sheet metal structures, mechanical hardware integration, CAD modeling, testing validation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure structural integrity, manufacturability, and aesthetic requirements.
What you'll do
- Lead mechanical development and integration of closure subsystems including latches, hinges, handles, and struts
- Design closure panels, reinforcements, and interfaces using CAD (3DX/CATIA) software
- Package and integrate moving components, ensuring proper kinematics and clearances
- Define and execute Design Verification Plans with physical testing and CAE correlation
- Collaborate with design studios and manufacturing teams on feasibility and optimization
- Manage supplier technical delivery and resolve issues from development through vehicle launch
