Airspace Intelligence
Software Engineer (Civil Aviation)
About this role
Air Space Intelligence seeks a Software Engineer to build mission-critical backend systems modernizing U.S. air traffic control. You'll design data fusion and trajectory prediction systems handling real-time optimization of tens of thousands of daily flights, requiring expertise in distributed systems, data integration, and high-reliability architectures.
What you'll do
- Design and build production-grade backend systems for air traffic management at national scale
- Implement data fusion pipelines integrating radar, flight plans, weather, and operator inputs into authoritative airspace views
- Develop trajectory prediction and decision-support systems for dynamic, safety-critical environments
- Model uncertainty and data provenance while building systems that handle incomplete or conflicting data gracefully
- Collaborate across teams in multi-system environments with evolving data models
- Prepare airspace infrastructure for emerging technologies like commercial space operations and advanced air mobility
What they're looking for
- Backend or distributed systems development with focus on design principles
- Rust and/or Python proficiency
- Data integration, storage, processing, and modeling
- AWS and cloud-native architecture experience
- High-availability systems design (four nines reliability preferred)
- Modern LLM tools for development acceleration
- Geospatial, aviation, or mapping domain knowledge (plus)
- Cross-team collaboration in complex technical environments
