Quality Engineer Manufacturing
About this role
1X is hiring a Quality Engineer for their humanoid robot manufacturing operation in Hayward, CA. You'll develop and implement manufacturing quality systems for complex electromechanical hardware, working across design, test, and production teams to ensure reliable robot scaling and production readiness.
What you'll do
- Develop manufacturing quality strategies and test coverage frameworks for robot subassemblies, PCBAs, and end-of-line systems
- Lead PFMEA and failure analysis activities to reduce manufacturing escapes and improve process robustness
- Analyze production data to identify yield loss drivers, recurring failures, and corrective action opportunities
- Partner with Test, Firmware, and Design teams to integrate scalable quality checks into manufacturing workflows
- Drive DOE and validation activities to improve test accuracy and production consistency across sites
- Support PCBA testing, sensor validation, actuator testing, and calibration workflows
