About this role
Heart Aerospace seeks a Battery Mechanical Design Engineer to develop mechanical systems for the ES-30 hybrid-electric aircraft's advanced battery pack. You'll design and optimize battery components from cell to full assembly, ensuring they meet stringent aerospace safety and certification requirements while collaborating across electrical, thermal, and systems teams.
What you'll do
- Lead mechanical design and development of battery cells, modules, housings, and complete pack assemblies using CAD tools like NX
- Create weight-optimized structural solutions meeting aircraft vibration, shock, and crash safety requirements
- Develop detailed engineering drawings with GD&T specifications, DFMEAs, and DVP&Rs
- Define and execute validation and verification test plans including mechanical, environmental, and abuse testing
- Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards (FAA, EASA, DO-160, DO-311) and support manufacturing transition with DFM/DFA focus
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, thermal, and systems teams to integrate battery systems into aircraft structure
