Gallatin AI
AI Engineer – Routing & Network Optimization
About this role
Gallatin seeks an AI Engineer to design and deploy routing and network optimization systems that move supplies and assets across global logistics networks at scale. You'll own end-to-end routing models, integrate optimization algorithms into production pipelines, and ensure decisions remain robust under operational uncertainty.
What you'll do
- Design and implement routing models encoding distance, capacity, availability, and risk constraints across transportation and resupply networks
- Implement and tune routing solvers using exact, heuristic, and hybrid algorithms for large graphs and real-time updates
- Own routing datasets including nodes, edges, costs, and capacities; validate network representations across all planning systems
- Integrate routing systems into real-time and batch planning pipelines with monitoring and performance validation
- Partner with feasibility and execution teams to validate route executability and support scenario testing
- Handle data gaps and changing network conditions while maintaining system reliability
What they're looking for
- Python or similar production programming language
- Graph theory, shortest-path algorithms (Dijkstra, A*, Bellman-Ford), and network flow models
- Vehicle routing problems and capacitated routing with time windows
- Optimization modeling languages and solvers (Pyomo, GAMS, AMPL, CPLEX, Gurobi)
- Large-scale graph processing and time-expanded networks
- Systems thinking for scale, uncertainty, and time-dependent systems
- Algorithm performance tuning and trade-off analysis
- Production pipeline integration and data validation
