About this role

Freeform seeks a Process Engineer to develop cutting-edge manufacturing processes for advanced metal 3D printing systems. You'll analyze complex multi-physics data, conduct experiments, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize printing technology and material properties.

What you'll do

  • Analyze large in-situ data sets to understand metal additive manufacturing physics and mechanisms
  • Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize printing processes
  • Perform post-build metrology and material characterization (tensile strength, surface roughness, microstructure)
  • Track and generate quality metrics for customer parts including dimensional accuracy and defect distribution
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and simulation engineers to improve processes using machine learning
  • Support development and implementation of tool qualification procedures
